In an effort to promote Penn’s contracted caterers and its Catering@Penn platform, Penn Procurement Services, in collaboration with the University’s Association of Business Administrators (ABA), hosted a “Catering@Penn” tasting event on October 12 at the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts.
Attended by over 250 staff members, this new event showcased 29 caterers, including 20 that hold at least one diversity classification, and twelve businesses that are based in Philadelphia (nine in West Philadelphia). Attendees had an opportunity to taste delectable samples while the caterers offered information on their services, including efforts related to sustainability and inclusion.
The Catering@Penn platform has been developed to encourage Penn Buyers to search for providers based on any combination of criteria such as cuisine type, service offerings, and geographic location as well as Penn’s various levels of sustainability requirements. The online tool, one which embraces and supports the University’s goals of sustainability and economic inclusion, enables individuals to easily search for diverse suppliers.
